Drýsildjöfull, formation islandaise mystérieuse, est admirable parce qu'elle a la même démarche novatrice que Life (l'objectif est totalement différent) : elle prend comme base un genre qui n'est pas connu pour faire des compromis, le punk, et en fait... ce qu'elle veut. Dans Dýflissupaunk, les riffs agressifs du punk et les cris black metal se retrouvent mis sur un pied d'égalité avec une boîte à rythmes "poum-clap" et une électro rétro-kitsch. Dýflissupaunk, c'est du moshpit pour gobelins !

N'espérez pas voir les fastes et le luxe de la vie de château dans Witch Lymph : dans ce premier tour du propriétaire, le trio américain de Old Nick nous fait visiter les cryptes. Le raw black metal vampirique rebondit contre les murs épais et les synthés surannés percutent les barreaux des cellules. Peut-être que la guerre menée plus tard par Curta'n Wall, elle se fait contre le château d'Old Nick. En même temps, vu tout ce qui a l'air de se passer là-dedans, c'est peut-être pour le mieux...

Drýsildjöfull - Verri en vondur

La première chose à laquelle j'ai pensé en écoutant Verri en vondur, c'est "on ne change pas une équipe qui gagne". De ce côté, Drýsildjöfull reste fidèle à lui-même : raw black metal/punk tranchant qui file à la vitesse de l'éclair, cris de gobelins assoiffés de sang, boîte à rythmes primaire mais catchy jouée par un ogre et l'intelligence qui va avec. Eh bien malgré tout, la formation islandaise ne se contente pas que de ça et se permet quelques nouveautés, surtout au niveau des atmosphères !

Curse Of The Lock Master permet à Old Nick de donner encore plus de cohérence à son univers. Car oui : les cellules des cryptes dans Witch Lymph ont des serrures aussi solides grâce à un mystérieux lépreux qui vit dans les tours. Il n'est pas un cordonnier mal chaussé : le raw black metal révèle un personnage aussi tourmenté et maudit que ses propres créations. C'est souligné par une production acérée qui percute des atmosphères grotesques et cryptiques. C'est théâtral et haut en couleurs !
